Advisory: Death Investigation

Christian Isaac Arias (30) Santa Ana

On Saturday, June 10, 2017, SAPD Officers encountered Christian Arias, an adult male, in the area of 1300 West 1st Street. Arias displayed symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance and/or alcoholic beverage(s). The officers detained Arias without incident and requested medics for a medical evaluation.

While Arias was in-custody, he became uncooperative and was transported to the SAPD Jail to be booked. The OCFA medics followed officers to the jail to medically clear Arias per protocol. At the jail Arias became unresponsive and was transported to Orange County Global Medical Center, where he was admitted for treatment.

On Tuesday, June 20, 2017, Arias was declared deceased. Members of the Santa Ana Police Department and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office are investigating. An autopsy was conducted by the Orange County Coroner’s Office on 06/21/2017. There were no signs of trauma; cause of death is undetermined pending return of toxicology report.
