Annual Orchid Expo to Take Bloom at Westminster Mall

WESTMINSTER, Calif. (February 10, 2015) — The Newport Harbor Orchid Society will host its 13th Annual Orchid Expo and Sale, this year themed “Orchids: Jewels of the Jungle,” February 13-15, at Westminster Mall.

The Expo, which is free and open to the public, will showcase thousands of high quality orchids in bloom from all over the world. Orchids are the largest family of flowering plants with over 35,000 known species and hybrids. Continue reading→

Simon Youth Academy at Westminster Mall Expands Capacity to Serve Local Students

New Academy Space Designed to Further Local Dropout Prevention and Recovery Efforts

WESTMINSTER, CA – A successful dropout prevention and recovery program, operating since 2003 as a partnership between Simon Youth Foundation (SYF), Westminster Mall and Huntington Beach Union School District, is expanding its capacity to serve local students through a larger academy space at Westminster Mall and an affiliated second site, Simon Youth Coast High School Academy.

Simon Youth Academy at Westminster Mall will be one of 22 Simon Youth Academies nationwide that exist to help at-risk students stay in school. To-date, SYF has graduated more than 12,000 students, awarded more than $12 million in scholarships and maintained a 90% cumulative graduation rate across all Academies. In Westminster, CA, the existing Academy has served more than 600 students. To-date, SYF and Westminster Mall have awarded $98,000 to local college-bound high school students. Continue reading→

Event to feature bounce house, crafts and giveaways

WESTMINSTER, Calif., July 14, 2014 – Get ready to jump up and down in excitement! Westminster Mall is hosting a Simon Kidgits Club bounce house event on Saturday, July 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Target Court to celebrate its members with a bounce house and crafts.

The bounce house party offers fun for the whole family. The first 75 members in attendance will receive a special prize.

The Simon Kidgits Club is a fun and informative program that focuses on health, wellness, education, safety and entertainment for children ages 3 to 8. Since 2003, the Simon Kidgits Club has kept children and parents alike amused with various events and activities while providing incentives for club members, such as special offers, rewards and games. Simon Youth Foundation seeks applicants for $1 million in scholarships

ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. (January 2, 2014)– For a fourteenth straight year, Simon Youth Foundation, a national nonprofit that provides educational opportunities for at-risk high school students, will award a college scholarship to one student from every community that is home to a Simon property.

Simon Youth Foundation Community Scholarships are awarded through the Simon Youth Scholarships program and in partnership with local Simon properties. The application period is open now until Saturday, January 11, 2014. Continue reading→
