The diminutive anti-police Santa Ana City Councilman, Johnathan Ryan Hernandez, had to be rescued by SAPD police officers after he was attacked outside his home by his former City Council aide and another suspect, according to the OC Independent.
Vernon Carter, 33-years-old, and his friend Danilo Delvalle, 30-years-old, showed up in the morning at the home of Councilman Hernandez’ mom, Maria Hernandez, at around 10:00 a.m. on the morning of August 2, demanding to see her son, Councilman Hernandez, who apparently still lives with his mom.
Carter and Delvalle got Hernandez in a headlock and kicked him several times, according to the SAPD and other sources.
The Councilman’s mom reportedly called 911. The SAPD police officers separated Carter, Delvalle and Hernandez once they arrived on the scene. All parties were injured but they declined medical attention at the scene.
Carter and Delvalle were arrested and they were charged with violating Penal Code Sections 240 and 242 – assault on a person and batter/simple assault, respectively.
Carter is a rap musician who performs under the rapper name “King Karlton.” For whatever reason Councilman Hernandez hired Carter to serve as a paid City Council assistant. Hernandez had previously paid Carter $270 for social media work on his 2020 city council campaign.
Carter spends most of his time now complaining online about Hernandez and about the La Placita Cinco apartment complex that he lives in.
The City of Santa Ana has clarified that the Council Members are not responsible for paying their City Council assistants. That is handled by the City of Santa Ana so Carter’s beef with Hernandez seems to be ridiculous. Then again Hernandez thought enough of Carter to have hired him. At the very least this shows that Hernandez is guilty of faulty hiring and a lack of reasoning.
Here is a video by Carter where he expounds on his issues with Hernandez and the Placita Cinco apartment complex:
Carter’s friend Delvalle is a hip-hop artist who goes by the stage name Danilo Energy.
Both Carter and Delvalle self-identify as LGTBQ rappers. Will the tough-talking Hernandez still have any street cred after getting thrashed by these guys?
It is ironic that SAPD police officers had to rescue Hernandez who often promotes defunding the police and has been known to wear t-shirts emblazoned with the phrase “F*ck the police.”
The moral of the story is don’t get initiated into a street gang at your mother’s house!
At James, this was not gang affiliated. I live in Santa Ana, please come to Santa Ana where stay I that neighborhood. Been living there all my life and seen it all. This was a business gone wrong deal not gang activities, dumbass.
The bias reeks on this post
