On Monday, July 14, Republic Services resumed regular trash and recycling collection following last week’s delays due to a Republic labor strike.
Republic is also providing extra drivers and vehicles to empty trash and recycling carts that weren’t collected over the past week. Residents should leave trash carts at the curb until they have been serviced.
Republic has over 30 trucks focused on residential routes and 39 trucks servicing commercial routes, with additional drivers and vehicles arriving from out of state to assist in the recovery efforts.
Street sweeping
Street sweeping will be on the normal schedule this week. If your trash/recycling has not been picked up and it is your street sweeping day, please leave your trash cart on the curb (not on the street) to allow the street sweeper to pass.

During the strike Republic Services complained about their union, the Teamsters, making these allegations:
- Republic Services made a formal proposal that included a nearly 16% wage increase immediately and an approximate 43% pay increase over five years for our Greater Boston employees. Contrary to the many falsehoods the Teamsters are spreading, our offer outpaces competitors.
- The wage proposal included zero-premium healthcare and generous retirement contributions.
- 45% of the Republic Services Greater Boston drivers represented by the Teamsters earned more than $100,000 last year, based on W-2 data.
- If the Teamsters accepted the Republic Services offer, drivers would make approximately $140,000 per year, by the end of the contract.
- Republic Services already pays 100% of the health and welfare premiums for their Greater Boston employees, and they have a comprehensive health and welfare plan.
The strike was by the Greater boston Teamsters but their colleagues in other cities nationwide joined in, absolutely disregarding the cities that depend on them for waste services.

El lunes 14 de julio, Republic Services reanudó la recolección regular de basura y reciclaje tras los retrasos de la semana pasada debido a una huelga de Republic.
