On December 2, during a traffic stop for vehicle code violations, an Orange County Sheriff North Patrol Deputy seized 1.2 pounds of methamphetamine, 15 baggies of crack cocaine, and drug-packaging materials, according to the OCSD-North Patrol.

The suspect was arrested for possession for sale and transportation of a controlled substance and ended the night in jail.

About the OCSD – North Patrol

North Patrol provides police services for the more than 70,000 residents of unincorporated Orange County. Dozens of unincorporated county islands are located in Anaheim, Costa Mesa, Brea, Garden Grove, Orange, Santa Ana, Tustin, La Mirada, Westminster, Huntington Beach, and Fountain Valley. Included are the communities of El Modena, Midway City, Emerald Bay, Rossmoor, Modjeska Canyon, and Silverado Canyon as well as the contract city of Villa Park. North Patrol deputies respond to over 70,000 calls for service each year.

Penalties faced by the suspect:

Felony possession of methamphetamine for sale (Health & Safety Code § 11378 HS)

  • Punishable by 16 months, 2 years, or 3 years in state prison
  • Fines of up to $10,000

Felony sale or transportation of methamphetamine (Health & Safety Code § 11379 HS)

  • Standard penalties mirror those under § 11352 (see below), with potential for 3 to 9 years in prison and fines up to $20,000

Felony possession of crack cocaine for sale (Health & Safety Code § 11351 HS)

  • Conviction can result in 2, 3, or 4 years in state prison

Felony sale or transportation of crack cocaine (Health & Safety Code § 11352 HS)

  • 3, 4, or 5 years in state prison
  • If transported to a noncontiguous county, penalties increase to 3, 6, or 9 years
  • Fines can be up to $20,000

Estimated street value of the seized drugs:

  • Methamphetamine (1.2 pounds ≈ 545 grams)
    • Wholesale estimate: $1,680–$2,400
    • Street-level estimate: $10,900–$21,800
  • Crack cocaine (15 baggies, approx. 15 grams)
    • Estimated value: $900–$1,500
  • Combined estimated street value:
    • Low end: about $2,580
    • High end: up to $23,300
