In a historic move, the Westminster City Council has officially passed a resolution to honor conservative activist Charlie Kirk with an annual “Charlie Kirk Day.”
Kirk was killed on September 10, 2025, during a public event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. He was speaking as part of his American Comeback Tour when he was shot in the neck in what authorities described as a political assassination. He was 31 years old at the time of his death.
The resolution, championed by Councilwoman Amy Phan West during the November 12, 2025 council meeting, recognizes Kirk’s contributions to promoting liberty, faith, and American values.
Councilwoman West praised Kirk’s unwavering commitment to freedom and truth, stating:
“This is a victory for freedom, for the next generation, and for the values that make America the greatest nation on earth.”
Under this resolution, October 14 will now be celebrated each year as Charlie Kirk Day in Westminster. The designation aims to preserve Kirk’s legacy and inspire future generations to uphold the principles that built America.
Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, has become a prominent voice in national conversations about individual liberty and constitutional principles. His influence continues to resonate with millions across the country, shaping a new generation of leaders committed to standing firm for what is right.
The City of Westminster’s decision ensures that Kirk’s impact will be remembered and honored for years to come.
Currently, Westminster, California, is not the only place honoring Charlie Kirk. Several other local governments and even state-level bodies have passed resolutions or designated days in his memory:
