Community: 2018 Pitch Hit & Run Competition and Jr. Home Run Derby

SANTA ANA, CA – The City of Santa Ana’s Parks, Recreation and Community Services Agency Youth Sports Program is proud to serve as a host site for the 2018 Pitch, Hit & Run competition and Jr. Home Run Derby. Pitch, Hit & Run is the official skills competition of Major League Baseball. This grassroots program is designed to provide youngsters with an opportunity to participate; free of charge, in a competition that recognizes individual excellence in core baseball/softball skills. The Jr. Home Run Derby is a free, fun and exciting youth competition that allows talented youngsters to showcase their hitting abilities, with the opportunity of competing at a National Finals during Major League Baseball All-Star Week.

The competitions will take place on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Riverview Park located at 1823 W. 19th St., Santa Ana, 92706 between 9:00 am – 12:00 pm. Boys and girls ages 7 – 14 participating in the Pitch, Hit and Run will be divided into four age divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12 and 13/14. Jr. Home Run Derby participants will be divided into two age divisions: 12U and 14U. All necessary equipment will be provided.

Pitch, Hit and Run participants will compete in three areas. Pitch: throw strikes to a designated target, Hit: hit from a stationary batting tee for distance and accuracy, Run: sprint from 2nd base to home plate for time. All participants will have the opportunity to advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championships at Major League ballparks. Jr. Home Run Derby participants will have the opportunity to advance through three levels of competition. The Local Champions from both age divisions will advance to the Regional Level, and Regional Champions. Both competitions will host the National Finals at the 2018 MLB All-Star Game in Washington, DC.

Competencia de Lanzar, Batear y Correr y Competencia Juvenil de Cuadrangulares 2018

Santa Ana, CA – El Programa de Deportes Juveniles de la Agencia de Parques, Recreación y Servicios Comunitarios de la Ciudad de Santa Ana se enorgullece de servir como sede de las competencias de Lanzar, Batear y Correr y Competencia Juvenil de Cuadrangulares 2018. Estas competencias de destrezas oficiales de la Liga Mayor de Beisbol (MLB) están diseñadas para proporcionar a los jóvenes la oportunidad de participar; de forma gratuita, en una competencia que reconoce la excelencia individual en habilidades de béisbol/softbol. Las competencias divertidas y emocionantes permiten a los jóvenes talentosos exhibir sus habilidades con la oportunidad de competir en La Final Nacional durante la Semana All-Stars de La Ligas Mayor de Beisbol

Las competiciones se llevarán a cabo el domingo 18 de marzo de 2018 en el Parque Riverview ubicado en 1823 W. 19th St., Santa Ana, 92706 entre las 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Los niños y niñas de 7 a 14 años que participen en Lanzar, Batear y Correr se dividirán en cuatro divisiones por edad: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12 y 13/14. Los participantes de la Competencia Juvenil de Cuadrangulares se dividirán en dos divisiones por edades: 12U y 14U. Se proporcionará todo el equipo necesario.

Los participantes de Lanzar, Batea y Correr competirán en tres áreas. Lanzar: lanzar strikes a un objetivo designado, Batear: batear desde un suporte de pelota estacionario para distancia y precisión, Correr: correr de segunda base hasta casa por tiempo. Todos los participantes tendrán la oportunidad de avanzar a través de cuatro niveles de competencia, incluyendo los Campeonatos por Equipos en los estadios de las Grandes Ligas. Los participantes de la Competencia Juvenil de Cuadrangulares tendrán la oportunidad de avanzar a través de tres niveles de competencia. Los campeones locales de ambas divisiones de edad avanzarán al Nivel Regional y a los Campeonatos Regionales. Ambas competiciones llevaran a cabo las Finales Nacionales durante el Juego de Estrellas MLB 2018 en Washington, DC.

Los participantes deben traer una copia de su certificado de nacimiento y que sus padres o tutores completen un formulario de registro/exención antes del inicio de las competencias.
