2013 OC Fair First Full Week Features City Days Saluting Select Orange County Cities Plus Performances by Alan Jackson, Extreme Rodeo and KIDZ BOP Kids Live

The OC Fair will salute Anaheim, Dana Point, Lake Forest, Mission Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, San Clemente, and San Juan Capistrano on select days July 17-19 with a community flag salute and discount admission coupons.

Costa Mesa, Calif. (July 15, 2013) – The fun continues at the 2013 OC Fair (July 12-August 11) with the first full week of summer activities and concerts plus gourmet food trucks on Thursdays and new, outrageous offerings like deep-fried cookie dough and Krispy Kreme Sloppy Joes. The Fair is closed Monday & Tuesday.

New this year, the OC Fair is saluting Orange County cities with the nightly Summer in the Cities presentation, a multimedia celebration featuring photos of Orange County’s iconic places, events and people accompanied by pyrotechnics and music at The Hangar. Also, on select days, the OC Fair will feature City Days when it will host local city representatives and residents for a special Community Flag Salute and singing of the National Anthem at 12:30 p.m.

Here is a sampling of the events going on this week (July 17-21) at the 2013 OC Fair:

Wednesday, July 17 (Open Noon-Midnight)

• Alan Jackson in the Pacific Amphitheatre (8 p.m.)
• Green Today / Total Distortion – Tributes to Green Day and Social Distortion in The Hangar (8:30 p.m.)
• Extreme Rodeo in the Action Sports Arena (8 pm)
• We Care Wednesday Food Drive: Free admission and one carnival ride with donation of five (5) cans of food. (Noon-4 pm)
• $30 Unlimited Rides & 2 Free Games (Sold until 5 p.m. and valid until 8 p.m.)
• City Days: Representatives from Dana Point, San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano will lead Fairgoers in singing the National Anthem at a 12:30 p.m. Community Flag Salute at The Hangar plus residents of these cities are encouraged to use their City Days coupons for $2 off general admission available at their local city hall and library.

Thursday, July 18 (Open Noon-Midnight)

• The B-52s & X in the Pacific Amphitheatre (8 p.m.)
• Strangelove – The Ultimate Tribute to Depeche Mode in The Hangar (8:30 p.m.)
• Bull Riding in the Action Sports Arena (8 p.m.)
• Kids Day: Children 12 and younger are free all day
• $30 Unlimited Rides & 2 Free Games (Sold until 5 p.m. and valid until 8 p.m.)
• Food Truck Fare at the 2013 OC Fair: Grub on gourmet food truck fare from Noon-10 pm inside the Fair. Access is free with Fair admission. This week the OC Fair welcomes Baconmania, Burnt Truck, Chunk N Chip, Dogzilla, The Lime Truck, Lobsta Truck, Ragin Cajun.
• Meat Heads Kitchen Challenge: Professional chefs Noah Blom/ARC & Zach Scherer/The Playground will compete live at the OC Fair in the OC Promenade at 5 p.m.
• City Days: Representatives from Lake Forest, Mission Viejo and Rancho Santa Margarita will lead Fairgoers in singing the National Anthem at a 12:30 p.m. Community Flag Salute at The Hangar plus residents of these cities are encouraged to use their City Days coupons for $2 off general admission available at their local city hall and library.

Friday, July 19 (Open Noon-Midnight)

• Three Dog Night / The Grass Roots in the Pacific Amphitheatre (7:30 p.m.)
• KISSmania – A Tribute to KISS in The Hangar (8:30 p.m.)
• Extreme Rodeo in the Action Sports Arena (8 p.m.)
• Seniors Day: $6 admission for guests 60 and older plus free regular Ferris wheel and merry-go-round rides all day
• $2 Taste of Fair Food: Sample Fair favorites for $2 per sample (Noon-4 p.m.)
• $2 Rides & Games (Noon-4 p.m.)
• OC Fair Express: Take a ride directly to the OC Fair from 9 different OCTA transit locations for only $2 one-way or $4 round-trip and receive a coupon for $3 OC Fair admission.
• City Days: Representatives from Anaheim will lead Fairgoers in singing the National Anthem at a 12:30 p.m. Community Flag Salute at The Hangar plus residents of these cities are encouraged to use their City Days coupons for $2 off general admission available at their local city hall and library.

Saturday, July 20 (Open 10 a.m.-Midnight)

• Emblem 3 / Chris Wallace in the Pacific Amphitheatre (8 p.m.)
• Hot August Night – A Tribute to Neil Diamond in The Hangar (8:30 p.m.)
• Bull Riding in the Action Sports Arena (8 p.m.)
• Rise & Shine: Admission is only $3 for everyone the first hour Saturdays and Sundays (10-11 a.m.)
• Jr. Livestock Auction: In the Livestock Show Ring starting at 9:30 a.m. Bidder registration is available the day-of.
• OC Fair Express & Metrolink: Take a ride directly to the OC Fair from 9 different OCTA transit locations for only $2 one-way or $4 round-trip and receive a coupon for $3 OC Fair admission. Metrolink riders who jump on the OC Fair Express from the Anaheim Canyon, Irvine or Santa Ana stations receive free rides to the OC Fair when they present their Metrolink ticket.
• Get Baking Cookie Contest: Judged live at the Fair, Fairgoers will see who bakes the best classic cookie at 1 p.m. in the OC Promenade. Online pre-registration is due by Wednesday, July 17.

Sunday, June 21 (Open 10 am-midnight)

• Counting Crows with The Wallflowers in the Pacific Amphitheatre (7:30 p.m.)
• KIDZ BOP Kids Live in The Hangar (1 and 4 p.m.)
• dada – The 20th Anniversary Tour in The Hangar (8:30 p.m.)
• Fiesta del Charro in the Action Sports Arena (7 p.m.)
• Rise & Shine: Admission is only $3 for everyone the first hour Saturdays and Sundays (10-11 a.m.)
• OC Fair Express & Metrolink: Take a ride directly to the OC Fair from 9 different OCTA transit locations for only $2 one-way or $4 round-trip and receive a coupon for $3 OC Fair admission. Metrolink riders who jump on the OC Fair Express from the Anaheim Canyon, Irvine or Santa Ana stations receive free rides to the OC Fair when they present their Metrolink ticket.

Throughout the 2013 OC Fair (July 12-August 11), Fairgoers can also enjoy:

Military Get in Free: Free admission each day for active-duty U.S. military and veterans with appropriate I.D.
Read & Ride Program: Children (ages 5-11) who read at least two books and submit a completed OC Fair Read & Ride Book Report Form (available online at ocfair.com/readandride) will receive three free carnival rides.
Free Exhibits and Events: Crafts and culinary displays in the Exhibit Promenade; Summer in the Cities twice nightly at The Hangar; Dr. Entomo’s Palace of Exotic Wonders in Memorial Gardens; Come & Get It Sand Sculpture; daily contests in the Fun Zone and more. All free with Fair admission.

The 2013 OC Fair, themed Come & Get It,is July 12 – August 11 and brings 23 days of food, rides, exhibits, animals, music, action sports and fun, as well as the Toyota Summer Concert Series at the Pacific Amphitheatre, The Hangar and Action Sports Arena. The Fair is open Wednesday-Sunday. Concert tickets, action sports reserved seats and single-day general admission are available for purchase online at ticketmaster.com or from the on-site Box Office. The popular Super Pass, which offers the passholder 23 days of admission, is available for purchase from the onsite Box Office or any public entry gate during regular Fair hours.
