Community: Santa Ana Library and Frida Cinema will host Forest of the Enchanted Drag Queens: Storytime and LGBTQ+ Youth Fair

Celebrating diversity, the Santa Ana Public Library and Santa Ana’s premier art house theater, Frida Cinema, are proud to present Forest of the Enchanted Drag Queens: All Ages Storytime and LGBTQ+ Youth Resource Fair. This special event is funded through a Library Services and Technology grant from the California State Library, the “Youth Know Social Innovation Project”. The event is FREE and will take place on Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 12:00pm-1:30pm at the Santa Ana Public Library.

Forest of the Enchanted Drag Queens will feature two local drag performers, Kunda Couture and Isabella Xochitl, as they read a variety of stories that will inspire teens, adults and young adults alike. Some stories will be bilingual in English and Spanish. The drag performers will participate in a Q&A about the importance of educating the community about LGBTQ+ and drag culture. In addition to the drag queen storytime, the library will host a resource fair with an emphasis on LGBTQ+ youth. Special drag queen-inspired crafts will also be available.

Forest of the Enchanted Drag Queens: All Ages Storytime and LGBTQ+ Youth Resource Fair will take place on Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m., at the Central Library, 2nd Floor Meeting Room A. Two-hour parking validation for the structure next door to the library will be available for program attendees. Children under12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

En celebración de la diversidad de culturas, la Biblioteca Pública de Santa Ana y el teatro artístico primordial de Santa Ana, el Frida Cinema, se enorgullecen en presentar, Forest of the Enchanted Drag Queens: Hora de cuentos para todas las edades y feria de recursos para jóvenes LGBTQ+. Forest of the Enchanted Drag Queens presentara dos artistas transformistas “drag queen” locales, Kunda Couture e Isabella Xochitl, que leerán una variedad de historias que inspirarán a adolescentes, adultos y jóvenes por igual. Algunas historias serán bilingües (en inglés y español). Los artistas transformistas “drag queen” platicaran sobre la importancia de educar a la comunidad sobre LGBTQ+ y la cultura transformista “drag queen.” Además de la hora de cuentos, la biblioteca presentará una feria de recursos con énfasis en los jóvenes LGBTQ+. Manualidades especiales inspirada por las artistas estarán disponibles.

Forest of the Enchanted Drag Queens: Hora de cuentos para todas las edades y feria de recursos para jóvenes LGBTQ+ se llevará a cabo el sábado, 24 de febrero, 2018 de 12:00pm-1:30pm, en la biblioteca central, Salón A en el segundo piso. Se ofrecerá 2 horas de parqueo gratis para el público que asista al programa estacionado en la estructura de parqueo al lado de la biblioteca. Los niños menores de 12 años deben estar acompañados por un padre o guardián.

  1. “Story time with a Drag Queen?” How foul!!! Arrogance in the face of God. Perversion on public display. Confusion to our children. We must teach our kids to stand against this and to realize they are NOT defined by their occasional or steady impulses to do bad things. God made them “male & female” just 2 genders – 2 biologically compatible sexes. The man and woman combination works. The man to man does not … woman to woman, does not. It’s time to tell kids the truth. Story time with the Bible would be the start.
