What is Karate
There is no simple answer to this question. It is an art with many facets like an intricately cut precious stone. Self-defense is the unifying theme of Karate. All of the training techniques are designed to make the body strong and hard, reflexes quickened and the head, hands, fingers, elbows, knees and other parts of the body conditioned in techniques of defense and offense.
The sole reason Karate is a defensive art is that because the blocking techniques are so highly developed, in an actual situation; properly executed blocking techniques will painfully warn the opponent not to pursue his attack further.
