A two-year old girl’s father and his girlfriend, Santos Salgaldo Beltran, 34, and Ana Billalba, 27, were arrested on suspicion of child abuse after a family member called the SAPD to report that the girl had been stabbed.
The SAPD police officers responded to the Villa Del Sol Apartments at the 800 block of South Fairview St. and found that the girl was suffering from multiple injuries including a stab wound on the side of her body.
The SAPD police investigators believe the abuse had been going on for at least two months.
Orange County Social Services took three other children who living at the home into protective custody.
The injured little girl is expected to be recover from her physical injuries.
Beltran has been charged with attempted murder and torture, both felonies, with sentencing enhancements for causing great bodily injury on a child younger than 5 and the personal use of a deadly weapon.
Billalba has been charged with a felony count of torture with a sentencing enhancement for causing great bodily injury on a child younger than 5.
