On Thursday, July 13, at about 3.30 p.m., a victim’s bag containing her Fuji camera was stolen from her vehicle while she was inside paying for gas at the Chevron at Culver and Michelson, in Irvine.

A review of the surveillance video showed a man in a black Nissan Sentra lingering at the gas station, approaching vehicles and walking in between cars, long after he had pumped gas into his own vehicle.

He walked past the victim’s vehicle and noticed a bag on the front passenger seat. The “smooth criminal” quickly opened the unlocked door and stole the bag. He walked back to his vehicle and left the area.

If you can identify this man or have information related to this crime, please contact Detective Alex Mena at 949-724-7124 or email amena@cityofirvine.org.

The Irvine Police Dept. reminds you not to leave your windows down, your car unlocked or any valuables inside, even if you are gone for a short time.
