On March 27, 2024, Suspect 1 and Suspect 2 entered the Ross Store located at 2200 E. 17th St., according to the Santa Ana Police Department.

The male suspect approached the victim and informed her that he had a winning jackpot lottery ticket but needed her help because he was from Argentina and did not possess an ID.

Meanwhile, the female suspect acted as a bystander and offered to help the male suspect. The male suspect made a phone call to an unknown person on speakerphone who stated it was a winning ticket for $15 million, but to redeem the ticket, $30,000 had to be presented to cover taxes and fees.

The male suspect offered the victim $50,000 if she would help him. The victim agreed, and both suspects escorted her to her home with Suspect 3 posing as an Uber driver. The victim gave the suspects $6,600, and they left her residence.

Anyone with information on the identity of the suspects is asked to contact Detective S. Lim at (714) 245-8417 or slim@santa-ana.org.

  1. Wait a minute, just hold on. He said he won 15 million dollars but only offered her $50,000? He would have needed to offer me at least, bare minimum.. 1.5 million. My heart really goes out to this woman. Glad she didn’t have more than the $6.6 thousand. I can’t stand scammers. They’re, imo, the most low life scum bags on this planet.
