A pedestrian was seriously injured on Monday night, in Costa Mesa, after being struck by a vehicle, according to the Costa Mesa Police Department.

The crash happened at Irvine Avenue and 18th Street, at about 6 p.m. The pedestrian was crossing the street when they were struck by the vehicle.

The victim was taken to a hospital and was in critical condition on Tuesday morning.

The driver waited at the scene for the police officers to arrive and then cooperated with the officers.

Police investigators do not believe that drugs or vehicular speed were involved in the collision.

No arrests were made after the crash.
