Ivonne Felix-Perez of Corona, a female motorcyclist, died this morning, just before 8 a.m., after colliding with a truck near Orange Avenue and Dyer Road, in Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.

The accident scene is a light industrial area with a lot of employers. Presumably the street traffic was heavy with morning commuters.

The truck driver stayed at the scene while SAPD police officers tried to determine what led to the crash.

In 2014, the estimated number of motorcycles owned by females is 14 percent, a 50 percent increase over the last 10 years, according to Women Riders Now, which also reported that nearly *25 percent of people who swing a leg over a motorcycle are female, this includes passengers.

In 2015, 4,976 people died in motorcycle crashes, up 8.3 percent from 4,594 in 2014, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) report.
