Southwest Community Center to host a Thanksgiving meal for the needy

Join the Southwest Community Center in celebrating their grand opening after a year of rebuilding the center that was burned in December of 2009.

Stop by this community barbecue after the Cesar Chavez Celebration to see the new and improved Southwest Community Center.  Assemblyman Jose Solorio says he will be there too!

Santa Ana’s Southwest Community Center rises from the ashes

The new Southwest Community Center

Santa Ana’s Southwest Community Center suffered a terrible fire last year, losing holiday food and gifts for the poor.  Their structure had to be totally demolished.
Nine months later the Center has risen from the ashes, according to community activist Alan H. Woo, who posted the pictures in this post on his Facebook page.

Fire at Santa Ana soup kitchen damages donated food and holiday gifts

The volunteers at Santa Ana’s Southwest Community Center are in mourning today, after “A late-night fire damaged their Santa Ana soup kitchen and destroyed $50,000 in food and holiday gifts that were to be distributed to needy families this weekend,” according to the L.A. Times.
