There have been 22 shooting incidents reported by SAPD so far this January. As bad as last year was this year is starting off even worse.

So you would think that with all of these violent crimes happening in our neighborhoods on almost a daily occurrence, that the Santa Ana City Council’s Public Safety and Neighborhood Improvement Committee would want to meet to discuss these shootings, right? Well you would be wrong. The meeting that was slated for Jan. 24 was canceled.

The Santa Ana City Council’s Public Safety and Neighborhood Improvement Committee includes Council Members David Benavides and Sal Tinajero, who both campaign last year for a big raise, which the voters stupidly gave them. So Benavides and Tinajero are making more money this year but they cannot make the time to show up to their own Public Safety Committee?

Both Benavides and Tinajero have been publicly whining non-stop since their handpicked womanizing overpaid City Manager, David Cavazos, was removed and dismissed by the new City Council majority. But by failing to participate in the Public Safety Committee they belong to both of these lame Councilmen are showing their true colors. They don’t care about this city. They just want to get paid.

  1. Sounds like they need to be booted off the Public Safety Committee. I concur with your statement “they don’t care” as it has been shown over the past year with nearly all the P/S committee meetings being canceled. These two “do-nothing” council members are a disgrace! They should not be compensated if they do not show up, most of us taxpayers would not be paid if we didn’t show up to work. Let’s hold these two accountable, remove them from the committee!

  2. Voters were misguided by the way the measure was explained on the ballot. Unfortunately, many young voters went to the ballot polls blindly, them and all the other people who voted just to try to stop Trump. Either way, Im disappointed with these councilmen… As usual.
