Jose Santos Alejandretorres, a DUI driver with two previous convictions, was charged with murder on Tuesday for a fatal DUI collision in Costa Mesa.
Alejandretorres is facing felony charges of second-degree murder, driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury, and DUI with a blood-alcohol level of .08% or more causing injury. He also was hit with sentencing enhancements for inflicting great bodily injury on the victim.
Alejandretorres was accused of having a blood-alcohol content of .15, more than twice the legal limit, at the time of the DUI collision. He is accused of killing Lucila Robledo last Friday.
Because Alejandretorres already had two previous drunk driving convictions the prosecutors were able to elevate the charges from manslaughter to murder, upping the punishment for a set time in prison to a life sentence.
Robledo was the daughter of Juan Robledo and Maria Valenzuela, and had several siblings including Juan Jr., Lisset, and Lisbet. She also had a nephew, Noah. Lucy’s godparents were Gustavo and Lupe Valenzuela and her boyfriend was Oscar Tapia.
Robledo graduated from Villa Park High School and later attended Santa Ana College.
A kermes is planned for Sep. 14 and 15, at 12922 Wheeler Place, in Santa Ana, at 10 a.m. The menu includes carnitas, tacos and tortas. Donations will help her family with the burial expenses.
