On May 10, 2025, patrol officers responded to a robbery investigation at a shopping center located at 3321 S. Bristol St., according to the SAPD.
The victim had returned to her vehicle when she heard a knock on the front passenger side. A man was pointing a gun at her and demanded her property. The suspect then forced his way into the vehicle by opening the door, stealing her wallet, and a large amount of cash.
Over the course of several weeks, the SAPD robbery detectives conducted a thorough investigation, which led them to identify Jonathan Lopez (22) of Santa Ana as the suspect in this incident.
Yesterday afternoon, Detectives successfully took Lopez into custody. They authored and served a search warrant at his residence, where they recovered the victim’s property, hundreds of rounds of ammunition, two large capacity rifle and handgun magazines, and approximately $15,000 in cash.
This crime occurred in the ward of Santa Ana City Councilman Phil Bacerra, a staunch supporter of law enforcement.
