On Monday morning, two men decided to steal bikes from the Promenade Apartment Community in Irvine.

The thieves accessed a locked community bike cage and stole two bikes. Security guards observed the theft on camera and called the Irvine Police Department.

An Irvine police officer arrived and spotted an RV leaving the area occupied by two men that looked like the suspects.

The officer stopped the vehicle and learned one of the men was on probation for burglary. Inside the RV, officers found the two stolen bikes and four other bikes believed to be stolen.

Both men who live outside of Orange County were arrested and booked at Orange County Jail for burglary, conspiracy, and possessing narcotics.

The Irvine Police Department recommends that you always lock your bike up in community bike storage areas. If you live in Irvine ,ake sure your bike is registered at project529.com/irvine. If your bike was stolen, please contact your police department to file a police report.
