The Huntington Beach Police Department will conduct a CDL/DUI checkpoint on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. at an undisclosed location within city limits.

Checkpoint locations are chosen based on DUI crash and arrest data. The primary goal is public safety, not arrests—officers aim to deter impaired driving and protect the community.

During the operation, officers will look for signs of impairment from alcohol, drugs, or medications. Remember:

  • Even prescription or over-the-counter drugs can impair driving.
  • Driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal, even though marijuana is legal in California.

If you plan to drink or take medications that affect driving, stay home or arrange a sober ride.

Penalties for Getting Busted at a DUI Checkpoint

  • First-time DUI: Average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, plus a suspended license.
  • Additional consequences may include:
    • Mandatory DUI education programs
    • Possible jail time
    • Higher insurance premiums
    • Ignition interlock device for repeat offenders

Driving impaired is dangerous and costly—no text, call, or drink is worth risking lives.
