STATEMENT BY REP. LORETTA SANCHEZ ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

WASHINGTON, D.C. –Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez released the following statement today in support of International Women’s Day.

“On the 100th anniversary of International Women’s Day, we as a nation come together to honor women’s economic, political and social contributions and achievements over this past century and continue the fight for their equality around the world,” said Sanchez. “This important celebration is close to my heart. Supporting women in education, the workplace and the military is not only the right thing to do, but the smart thing to do, and I’ll continue my efforts in Congress to make level the playing field for generations to come. We must also remember courageous women like Tran Khai Thanh Thuy in Vietnam who sacrificed her rights as a woman in the name of freedom for the people of Vietnam.”

Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez is proud to represent California’s 47th Congressional District, which includes the cities of Anaheim, Garden Grove, Santa Ana, and parts of Fullerton in Orange County. She serves as Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Strategic Forces and a senior member of the Committee on Homeland Security. Rep. Sanchez is also a member of the fiscally conservative Blue Dog Coalition and sits on the bipartisan, bicameral Joint Economic Committee.
