Recently, one of the Irvine Police Department’s private security partners notified them that a known bike thief and shoplifter was visiting their store.

Irvine police officers responded and learned the man had five warrants for his arrest!

During their investigation, the investigators determined that the suspect had stolen an e-bike from the location the day before.

Hector Jesus Guerena, 28, of Santa Ana, was arrested and booked at Orange County Jail for his warrants and grand theft. Officers requested a bail enhancement.

Over 560 bikes have been stolen from Irvine in the last year. Here are some tips to protect your bike:

  • Register your bike at project529.com/irvine
  • Every lock can be broken with time. Slow thieves down by using a solid u-style lock
  • Hide a tracker or GPS tag on your bike
