On July 4, a 15-year-old set her purse next to her on a bench at the Spectrum. A female suspect sat down opposite the victim, grabbed the purse, and ran off, according to the Irvine Police Department.

Assistance from security, great video footage, and Airpods led the Irvine police officers to Laguna Beach, where the pair was spotted driving in the downtown area.

Amanda Steere, 40, of Yucaipa, and Gabriel Perez, 44, of Lake Arrowhead, were arrested for conspiracy and purse snatching. Steere also had warrants for her arrest out of Riverside. Their Fourth of July ended without fireworks at the Orange County Jail.

Always be aware of your surroundings, and hold on to your belongings when you are in a public place.
