If you have enjoyed the Annual Noche de Altares (Day of the Dead) event in Santa Ana, or are planning on attending this event this year, please consider donating to the effort, at this link.  It is my understanding that the organizers need at least $1,000 more in contributions.

Noche de Altares in Santa Ana started in 2002 as a Dia de Muertos celebration organized for and by the community, including artists, students, families and community based organizations. Dia de Muertos is a community celebration with precolombian origins that exists throughout MesoAmerica and throughout the globe in different manifestations. It is a celebration and remembrance of those who have past one but continue to be present through their memory. That first year we had several altares and a couple hundred people.

Since then, every year, people come together as a community to remember and learn about their own history through the different altars created by families who come to celebrate the life of their loved ones and organizations who celebrate the life, work and struggles of different community members.
