On Tuesday, March 21 at about 7 p.m., an SAPD police officer heard gunshots in the area of 400 West 16th Street. A 19-year old female Hispanic shooting victim later arrived at the UCI Medical Center suffering from a gunshot wound, according to SAPD Case # 17-07613. The victim sustained a non-life-threatening injury to her lower torso.

The shooting victim reported that at around 7 a.m. she was riding in a vehicle on North Ross Street that had turned onto 16th Street. She heard gunshots from a vehicle with four men inside, according to the O.C. Register.

The SAPD’s police investigator’s are reviewing footage of the shooting that surfaced from a nearby surveillance camera.

This shooting happened northeast of Willard Intermediate School in Santa Ana’s Ward 2, which is represented by Mayor Pro Tem Michele Martinez.

On Tuesday, March 21 at about 11 p.m. SAPD police officers responded to the area of 1800 South Raitt regarding calls of a shooting in progress and a victim on the ground.

Two male Hispanic victims were located and were transported to a local hospital; one in critical condition according to SAPD Case # 17-07626.

The victims included a 16-year-old boy who sustained a gunshot wound to the upper torso and was transported by ambulance to Orange County Global Medical Center in critical condition, and a 17-year-old boy, was also taken to Orange County Global Medical Center with a non-life threatening wound to the leg, according to the O.C. Register.

As usual, both victims have refused to cooperate with police, and no suspects have been identified, according to the SAPD.

This shooting happened east of Valley High School in Santa Ana’s Ward 2, which is represented by Mayor Pro Tem Michele Martinez.
