Toy gun used to study children's gender behaviour (Gun)

Today, 09/14/2023, at approximately 12:53 PM, Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD) responded to Nova Academy located at 500 W. Santa Ana Blvd. regarding a possible active shooter.

The SAPD, in collaboration with school personnel, evacuated all students while Officers cleared the school.

The investigation revealed a student brought a toy gun from home, which was later reported to staff and prompted a school lockdown.

The appropriate safety measures were taken by both our Officers and Nova Academy staff, to ensure everyone’s safety.

The student was detained and the toy gun was confiscated pending further investigation.

We appreciate the patience and cooperation of the students, parents, and guardians during this stressful event.
