The media is reporting that shots were fired at the Westfield MainPlace Mall tonight at about 8:15 pm.  Shoppers apparently rushed to the exits after they heard people say that there was a possible shooter in the mall, according to the O.C. Register.

A fistfight may have taken place near the movie theater at the mall, after which someone nearby yelled out that shots had been fired, causing “pandemonium,” according to KTLA.

Authorities were called at 8:15 p.m. about possible shots fired at the mall, but were trying to confirm if anyone was seen with a weapon, said Santa Ana police Sgt. David Lima said.

There were no reports of any victims and no weapons have been found. Reportedly local businesses were on lockdown by order of the SAPD.

The OC Register later reported that three teens were watching the movie “Goosebumps,” when two girls got into a fight and a trash can was thrown. Then someone “threw a trash can and somebody yelled, ‘Somebody’s got an AK-47!’”, according to the SAPD. And panic ensued.
