Community: COMMUNITY INPUT: PROPOSED NEIGHBORHOOD NEEDLE EXCHANGE PROGRAM / COMENTARIO PÚBLICO: PROGRAMA PROPUESTO DE INTERCAMBIO DE AGUJAS

The City of Santa Ana has received notification that a group of UC Irvine medical students are seeking approval from the State of California to establish a “free needle exchange program” in the French Court Neighborhood for intravenous drug users.

The community is encouraged to submit public comments on the needle exchange as the proposed location at 1605 N. Spurgeon is not permitted under Santa Ana’s General Plan. Public comments are being accepted through May 14, 2015 via email to:

  1. Yeah … why not enhance Santa Ana’s street cred as a haven for druggies … ?

    1. Santa Ana wants to be a big city with a gentrified downtown and a trolley, so you have to accept to other aspects that come with a big city mentality. Namely a homeless shelter, admission of its drug problem, proper zoning for medical marijuana businesses, etc.

      It’s called parity. Can’t have it both ways.
