carjacking

Well this is depressing. Apparently a man driving a Volkswagen was carjacked in Santa Ana today at about 12:30 p.m. by at least two people.  The victim called the SAPD to report this.  The good news is that the cops caught the bad guys after a high speed chase that ended in a car accident on Harbor Bl.

The bad guys ran but “police sent a K-9 unit, helicopter, strike force, gang unit and police detectives after the man, who was arrested in the 1100 block of North West Street,” according to the O.C. Register.

The bad news? The carjacking happened at Bristol Street and Segerstrom Avenue.  Yep.  Right near what is referred to as South Coast but is actually Santa Ana.

This comes just a few weeks after the death of a 33-year old man who turned out to be the co-founder of a big tech firm in Irvine – Andrew Scott Reisse, when gang bangers fleeing the police hit a car that then ran into the victim, who was walking through an intersection,  at Flower and MacArthur,.in south Santa Ana.

If south Santa Ana is going to hell in a hand-basket, how safe are the rest of us?

  1. Yet crime is at its lowest since the late 70s. Calm down, these are isolated incidents.

    1. The Mayor who has been neutralized by our City Council? The Council runs this city now so let’s see what they have to say. Prediction:the silence will be deafening.

  2. The SAPD is down about 100 officers with many to retire soon. The council is not hiring more officers either. That and AB109 (Jerry’s Kids- early prisoner release) make a horrible combination.
