James Carroll, a 35-year-old man was arrested Monday after he ran from police and tried to hide in a helicopter at John Wayne Airport, in Santa Ana, according to the O.C. Register.

The Newport Beach police responded to to a call at about 3:40 p.m. about a man who needed medical attention at the 19700 block of Campus Drive, which is just outside the airport, in Newport Beach.

When officers arrived, the man, Carroll, got up and jumped over a fence. The police officers chased him on foot. He was found a few minutes later hiding in an unlocked private helicopter.

Carroll was arrested on suspicion of trespassing on the airport’s property. Fortunately no flights were disrupted during the search for the suspect.

Carroll did not tell the police why he ran in the first place.
