Early on Thursday morning, Irvine Police Dispatch received a call about a man stealing mail in Westpark.

Patrol officers saturated the area and found a man walking with two duffel bags near University and Harvard.

The bags contained hundreds of pieces of mail that did not belong to the male suspect. The 36-year-old man, from Compton, was arrested on multiple fraud charges and booked at Orange County Jail.

He was out on bail for another case and has a lengthy criminal record. Detectives are sorting through the stolen mail and contacting victims.

Informed delivery from US Mail and clearing your mailbox daily are great ways to protect your mail and packages. Residential cameras are also very helpful in tying the suspect to the thefts. Put one on your holiday wish list…

  1. Why would they let him out on bail? It’s a federal offense. They lock up American citizens for just being in DC on Jan 6th, but this jerk they let go free? What’s good is Bad and what’s bad is good?
