Community: 2016 Presidential Primary Election Update: Check your party registration!

The Orange County Registrar of Voters’ Office will be mailing sample ballots to City of Santa Ana registered voters in coming days for the upcoming June 7, 2016 Presidential Primary Election.

It’s very important to verify how you’re registered – especially in a primary election. Why? Because some parties will not allow No Party Preference (NPP) voters (formally known as “Decline to State”) to vote in their primary election, such as the Republicans, Peace and Freedom and Green parties. For example, you must be registered Republican to receive a ballot with their candidates listed, otherwise that option will not be provided.

When your sample ballot arrives flip it over and check how you’re registered or you can check online at: https://www.ocvote.com/registration.

The deadline to update your voter registration information including your party affiliation is May 23, 2016.

You can update your voter registration online at www.ocvote.com, contact the OC Registrar of Voters’ Office at 714-567-7600 to have an affidavit mailed to you, or pick up a registration form at Santa Ana City Hall, DMV locations, or any public library.

Please take a few moments to verify your party affiliation to assure that you are able to vote for your candidate of choice.
