Anh Duy Phan, a 27-year-old Garden Grove man, was charged on Friday with using a knife while attacking a woman.

Phan is facing felony charges of attempted murder, false imprisonment, criminal threats, burglary and assault with a deadly weapon.

Garden Grove police officers arrived at the 12500 block of Lorna Street at 1:22 p.m. on Wednesday in response to the attack.

The police officers found the victim with multiple knife wounds to her body and injuries to her neck as well. Police investigators believe the evidence shows that the victim was also strangled.

The woman told officers that Phan is an acquaintance of hers and he let himself into her apartment uninvited. He pulled out a knife when they began to argue. He then threatened to stab her, according to the police.

The woman tried to escape from the residence but Phan pulled her back in. He put his arm around her neck and repeatedly stabbed the knife at her. The victim was finally released and Phan then fled, according to the police.

Phan was tracked down in Westminster and arrested.
