Benavides fundraiser

Santa Ana Councilman David Benavides is once again holding a fundraiser outside of his Ward, in Downtown Santa Ana, at Ketri Cafe, on Oct. 16, 2014, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

Benavides bills Ketri Cafe as “A Local Hidden Gem,” but I guess he hasn’t looked at their record of health violations.

They were inspected by the OC Health Care Agency on August 7, 2014, after a complaint, and the inspection resulted in a bevy of violations:

  • Facility not Fully Enclosed/Open Door/Air Curtain
  • Lack of/Improper Handwashing/Handwashing Sup.
  • Improper Holding Temperatures of PHF
  • Restroom in Disrepair/Unclean/Improp. Use/Supplies
  • Lack of/Unsanitary/Condition Walls/Floors/Ceilings
  • Improper Food Storage/Receiving
  • Unsanitary Equipment/Utensil/Linen/Plumbing

  • Unsanitary Equipment/Utensil/Linen/Plumbing
  • Lack of/Unsanitary/Condition Walls/Floors/Ceilings

They also received several health violations when they were inspected on Oct. 29, 2013:

  • Facility not Fully Enclosed/Open Door/Air Curtain
  • Inappropriate Sanitizer Level/ Lack of Test Strips
  • Unsanitary Equipment/Utensil/Linen/Plumbing
  • Improper Thawing
  • Restroom in Disrepair/Unclean/Improp. Use/Supplies

Perhaps these health violations are why Ketri made this announcement, on Oct. 7, on their Facebook Page: “Friends, at this time Ketri will be closing its doors to the public and focusing solely on events and catering.”

You have to pay to hang out with Benavides – but the Chorro is free!

Ketri Cafe is located at 1002 W. 3rd St., in DTSA.

While you are there you might ask Benavides about his plans to approve a massive high density apartment complex.
