Advisory: First Street Bridge Fire Causes Westbound Lane Closures

This afternoon, a fire under the First Street Bridge over the Santa Ana River was reported. The fire intensity was aided by propane and liquid flammable paint.

The damage has forced the closure of all three lanes in the westbound direction until further notice. The closure will not impact access to residents or businesses between the Bridge and Fairview Street.

Traffic control signs are in place to advise the west bound motoring traffic to use Fairview Street as an exit. Traffic lanes in the east bound direction over the bridge are not impacted and will remain completely open.

City staff are working diligently to asses all damages and restore westbound lane access.
