ANAHEIM, Calif. (December 24, 2020) – On Tuesday, December 22, 2020, just after 1:30 pm, Anaheim Police Department Officers responded to the 2000 block of E. Via Burton Street regarding a shooting.

The victim, 23-year-old Mathew David Rawson of Costa Mesa was discovered by officers suffering from at least one gunshot wound and he was transported to a local area hospital where he died of his injuries.

Anaheim Police Homicide Detectives took over the investigation and identified 23-year-old Gilbert Fred Falgo of Hesperia as the suspect of the shooting. On December 23, 2020, at about 1 pm, Falgo was located by Anaheim Police Investigators, in Hesperia and arrested for the murder of Rawson. A handgun was recovered during Falgo’s arrest.

Detectives are not releasing the motive for the shooting or relationship between the subjects involved. Falgo is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
