Inside of Cholula's Bakery

Cholula’s Bakery was expected to open Wednesday, after enduring a debacle over holiday sweet bread laced with a synthetic drug that sickened more than 40 people and that shut its doors for nearly two weeks, according to the O.C. Register.

What this means is that the Orange County Health Department has cleared Cholula’s – and they are now in compliance with all of the O.C. Health Codes.

We still don’t know how it is that their holiday Rosca de Reyes bread was laced with a synthetic form of marijuana.  But a criminal investigation is ongoing.  The owner of Cholula’s thinks that the flour they used was tainted so this mess could trace back to one of their suppliers.

Cholula’s has a long record of health violations but hopefully they have learned from this episode and will now endeavor to comply with the Health Codes.

Don’t be too hard on them – just look at the health violation record of the hipster haven “Playground” – a very expensive restaurant in Downtown Santa Ana.

The Playground was inspected on June 27, last year, and issued these health violations:

  • Improper Warewashing/Inoperable Dishmachine
  • Evidence of Vermin Activity/Presence of Animals/Insects
  • Lack of/Unsanitary/Condition Walls/Floors/Ceilings
  • Improper Holding Temperatures of PHF
  • Unsanitary Equipment/Utensil/Linen/Plumbing

A previous inspection of the Playground on Jan. 30, last year, resulted in these health violations:

  • Eating/Drinking/Smoking in Food Storage/Prep Areas
  • Evidence of Vermin Activity/Presence of Animals/Insects
  • Improper Food Storage/Receiving
  • Inoperable/Lack of Food Thermometer
  • Lack of/Unsanitary/Condition Walls/Floors/Ceilings
  • Uncleanliness of Premises/Trash Storage
  • Improper Holding Temperatures of PHF
  • Unsanitary Equipment/Utensil/Linen/Plumbing

We wish the owner of Cholula’s well and hope he can restore his business and reputation.  His record is certainly no worse than most of the gourmet restaurants in DTSA.

  1. In the end it will prove that the poison from the Chinese made baby Jesus nearly killed those people. Kind of like the filthy child molesting priests Seamus love so much.

Amazing, baby Jesus poisons people, Mater Dei Priests rape them and morons like Tardif want to blame marijuana.

Smoke a joint or RAPE a boy? Which would Mike Choose?

      1. I’d say the one messed up head is the one defending child rapists, promoting an organization who facilitated the sexual assault of kids.

In defense to you, at least you had to do it under the fake names of Junior, Seamus, Truckdrivinmike, and what other silly names you call yourself.
