WESTMINSTER, Calif. – On June 24, 2023, at about 11:45 PM, Westminster police officers were dispatched to the rear alley of CVS Pharmacy, located at the 15400 block of Brookhurst Street, in reference to an attempted sexual assault.

The female victim told the officers she was seated in the alley when she was allegedly approached by Ernesto Nuno, who reportedly exposed his genitals to the victim and asked her orally copulate him. When the victim refused, Nuno allegedly began punching the victim in the face and head and attempted to remove her pants while using his body weight to hold her down.

During the assault, the victim reported she retrieved her pocketknife and stabbed Nuno, ultimately stopping the assault.

Officers located Nuno nearby with an injury to his right hand consistent with being stabbed. The victim positively identified Nuno as the assailant and was arrested without incident.

Nuno was booked into the Orange County Jail for the above-listed charges.

The investigation is ongoing, and WPD detectives urge anyone with additional information to contact the Westminster Police Department at 714-548-3783 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIP-OCCS or by logging on to www.occrimestoppers.org. Callers can remain anonymous.
