This morning at approximately 9:36 am, Westminster Police Department officers were dispatched to La Quinta High School in reference to a student with a gun threatening to shoot people.

Police officers arrived on campus within two minutes and began systematically searching the school. It was determined that this was a ‘swatting’ call.

A similar incident occurred yesterday in Florida using the same fictitious phone number.

Westminster Police Department officers, SRO, Detective Bureau, Traffic Division, and school faculty ensured there were no threats to any students.

The Westminster Police Department Detective Bureau will be following up with the investigation.

The school was placed on lockdown, but it has now been lifted, and there are no threats to the students or faculty.
