A Tustin police officer responded to a call from a resident at the 15400 block of Williams St. at about 10:05 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 9. As the officer turned up at the scene someone jumped out of the bushes near the entrance of a mobile home park in Tustin and the officer shot and wounded the person.

The responding officers wrote in their statement after the shooting that the suspect was “advancing on the officers.”

The suspect was then taken to a hospital and was later pronounced dead on Monday.

The officers also alleged, after the shooting, that the suspect was holding some sort of object at the time. However the Tustin Police Department has not yet specified what that object might have been.

The name of the dead man has not yet been released.

No police officers were injured in this incident.
