A pedestrian died after possibly being hit by two cars who drove off from the scene this morning, at about 5:30 a.m., according to the O.C. Register.

The incident occurred near the intersection of South Bristol Street and West Warner Avenue, according to KTLA

Bristol Street was closed from Warner Avenue to Hemlock Way while officers investigated.

A witness reported that the victim had been lying in the street, next to a blanket, when a car nearly hit him. He then sat up but then laid back down again. Then a second car passed by and this time the man was run over.

The driver of that car stopped about 50 yards away but then continued heading north, according to the SAPD.

The vicim has not been identified but he was described only as a black man in his 20s or 30s.

The victim was declared dead at the scene.

The driver who took off ended up going home. He later called the SAPD about an hour after the crash to report that he might have run someone over.

The driver has been arrested. He told police that he left the scene because he panicked.

Initial reports indicated that the victim had been struck by two vehicles. However the investigation revealed that only one driver was involved in the hit-and-run.

  1. If the man was laying in the middle of the road when struck, certainly this incident was not the driver’s fault. The driver did flee however and will be held accountable for that. One must keep his/her wits about them in lightening-fast incidents, I suppose.

    1. I saw the same man on Fairview and Segerstrom standing in middle on the street. My husband and i told him to move out of the street and he kept saying no to us. We called the SAPD and they said they received multiple calls. They were sending someone out. I dont understand why SAPD would not obtain him.

  2. It was pitch black at that time how is the driver suppose to see him obviously the man seemed to be homeless not all there wanting to get run over perhaps? At least the man admitted it was him. There needs to be more police patroling the areas during these times.

  3. The young man sounds like he was suicidal, I wish I could’ve done something. I think he was my flesh and blood. We haven’t seen him in a while.

  4. No he was not suicidal, he was the grandson of a friend of mine and he wasn’t homeless. It seems when it’s someone black the idiots are quick to say something negative about our people but for the most part white folks are mainly the ones that commit suicide are dismembering a body. They are always doing something outrageous to themselves are someone else. Do the math!

    1. Who are you calling a idiot, I hope you were referring to the man who ran over my relative and not me; nonetheless, the hater are going to hate. Could you keep your eyes on the victim or the killer, instead of hating!
