Just after 3:00 PM on August 7, 2023, Corporal Han Cho, a Garden Grove police officer, was involved in an off-duty traffic collision on his way home from work, in the City of Anaheim. He was transported to a local hospital and later succumbed to his injuries.

Corporal Cho had been with the Garden Grove Police Department for 28 years and was assigned to their Neighborhood Traffic Unit.

He is survived by is survived a teenaged son, a daughter, mother and father, 2 sisters, 1 brother and a niece.

The Garden Grove Police Association will be coordinating with the Cho family on memorial arrangements and donations. More information will be released at a later time.

Cho’s sister, Sonya Chung, also set up a GoFundMe page to help for any unexpected medical bills, funeral arrangements and also to make sure that his two young children are taken care of as they learn to navigate their lives without their father.

We appreciate the outpouring of support we’ve received from our local law enforcement partners and the community, as we navigate these tough times.
