The Tustin Police responded to a DUI traffic collision on Sunday afternoon. A driver somehow careened into a light pole.
The location of the incident and the identity of the driver were not disclosed.
DUI drivers are typically arrested in California. Law enforcement officers usually arrest individuals suspected of driving under the influence (DUI) if they fail field sobriety tests or have a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.08% or higher. The arrest process involves taking the driver into custody, booking them at a police station, and often releasing them on bail or their own recognizance until their court appearance.
The Tustin Police did say that the collision was preventable and that it served as a reminder to all regarding the dangers of driving under the influence.
Tustin Police officers were out in full force on Superbowl Sunday.
The Superbowl itself turned out to be a lame waste of time. Imagine getting a DUI after having to watch that? Talk about a double-slap!
Standard DUI Penalties:
If a DUI collision in California does not result in any injuries, the penalties are generally less severe than those involving injuries but can still be significant:
- Fines: $390 to $1,000, plus additional court fees and assessments.
- Jail Time: Up to 6 months.
- License Suspension: 6 months.
- DUI School: 3 to 9 months.
- Probation: 3 to 5 years.
Additional Consequences:
- Increased Insurance Rates: A DUI conviction can significantly raise your insurance premiums.
- Ignition Interlock Device: You may be required to install this device in your vehicle.
- Restitution: Payment for any property damage caused by the accident.
Even without injuries, a DUI collision is treated seriously and can have long-lasting effects on your record and personal life
