Stealing over $7,000 in hair and skin care products from a CVS in California would likely be classified as grand theft, which is a felony due to the high value of the stolen items.

The penalties for grand theft in California can include:

  • Imprisonment: 16 months, 2 years, or 3 years in state prison.
  • Fines: Up to $10,000.
  • Probation: In some cases, the court may grant probation instead of prison time, which could include community service, restitution to the victim, and other conditions12.

Additionally, if the theft is part of an organized retail theft operation, there could be additional charges and penalties3.
