On August 12, 2020, at approximately 7:40 p.m., a female adult from Orange was walking in the 4700 block of east Walnut Avenue. A 21-year-old male, later identified as Saul Montiel Tejeda from Orange, grabbed the victim’s buttocks and fled on his bicycle. The victim called 911 and responding officers located Montiel Tejeda in the area of Hewes Street and Center Avenue. The victim identified Montiel Tejeda and officers arrested him for the sexual assault.

Detectives have connected Montiel Tejeda to four sexual assaults that occurred along the Santiago Creek Trail. After our initial press release on August 4, the Orange Police Department received 77 tips and two additional women came forward to report similar incidents. Montiel Tejeda was booked at Orange County Jail.
