The SAPD Chief has responded to online lies about the SAPDs involvement in ICE raids

The SAPD Police Chief, Robert Rodriguez, responded on social media today to lies being spread online about the SAPD’s alleged involvment with ICE raids.

Chief Rodriguez said “As your Chief of Police, our department’s role is to ensure the public safety of all individuals regardless of immigration status. We do not ask about or investigate a person’s immigration status. We do not detain individuals solely for immigration enforcement. We do not participate in Federal immigration raids. We do collaborate with Federal agencies on criminal investigations that impact public safety. Our department remains committed to fostering trust and transparency. Public safety is a shared responsibility. And together we will continue to make our city a place where all residents feel safe and supported. ”

The message was repeated by the Chief in Spanish as well. You can hear the message above.

Santa Ana remains a Sanctuary city. However the administration of President Donald Trump doesn’t give a hoot about that. Trump will send in ICE to any Sanctuary city and realistically there is nothing that local City Councils or Police Departments can do about that.

Undocumented residents are cautioned not to harbor criminals in their abodes as this will make it easy for ICE to deport the entire household as they capture wanted criminals.

Hopefully the Chief’s message will get through to families and young people as many students walked out of SAUSD schools today in a misguided protest that will only serve to hurt their own education.
