On Friday, September 12, 2025, the Placentia Police Department will be conducting a DUI (Driving Under the Influence) and Driver’s License checkpoint at an undisclosed location within the city limits.

The checkpoint will operate from 8:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.

Checkpoint locations are selected based on data identifying areas with a high incidence of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary goal of DUI checkpoints is to enhance public safety by removing impaired drivers from the roadway.

We remind the public that impairment is not limited to alcohol. Certain prescription and over-the-counter medications can also impair driving. Additionally, while medicinal and recreational marijuana use is legal in California, driving under the influence of marijuana remains illegal.

Drivers arrested for a first-time DUI offense can face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, along with a suspended license.

This enforcement effort is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS), through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
