Irvine police officers called in their police helicopter and K9 officer Bodie this morning sa they searched for a burglary suspect in the Westpark neighborhood.

Isidro Lopez, 34, of Salinas, burglarized an occupied residence and stole a few thousand dollars in property. Thankfully, a dog inside the victim’s home barked and woke the residents.

Officers arrived quickly, set up a perimeter, and found Lopez hiding in the bushes at a residence a couple of blocks away. He was transported to the Orange County Jail, where he was booked for burglary and possessing a controlled substance.

Video cameras were very helpful in tracking the suspect and determining what happened. If you don’t have cameras protecting your home, the Irvine Police Department recommends adding some to your home security plan.

If you are visiting Irvine the Irvine Police Department recommends you refrain from committing crimes.
