A 76-year-old pedestrian has died after being involved in a collision with a truck.
Last night, at approximately 6:15 p.m., the Irvine Police Department (IPD) and Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) responded to a reported traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a white Chevrolet Silverado truck. The collision occurred on East Yale Loop just before the intersection of Witherspoon.
OCFA arrived at the location and determined the pedestrian had died of her injuries. Her identity is not being released at this time.
The initial investigation indicates the Chevrolet was traveling southbound on East Yale Loop towards Witherspoon when it struck a female pedestrian crossing over East Yale Loop before the intersection. The driver of the truck remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be a factor in the collision.
IPD’s Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating this case. Anyone with information should contact Detective Christopher Ostrowski at 949-724-7047.
